Sergei Kharitonov was once considered one of the great up and coming fighters in the world. But for some reason, he never showed the consistency to be considered a true top three kind of heavyweight. Coming into their Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva match up, Andrei Arlovski had lost three straight. In other words, both combatants were looking at the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament as a way to right the wrongs.

But only one would walk out of the fight feeling good about the direction their career was going. Keep reading to find out whom.

Early on, Arlovski landed a low kick, right to the head, and then a light front kick to the body. Kharitonov landed a couple of jabs, before getting hit with a flurry. Upon a clinch, the two traded uppercuts with Arlovski getting the better of things. Nice low kick by Arlovski. He's looking like the faster fighter. A couple of decent kicks by the former UFC champion. Kharitonov landed a couple of jabs and then clinched with his adversary, but Arlovski got away easily. Nice jab by Arlvoski. Upon still another clinch, Kharitonov connected with a couple of solid uppercuts. Arlovski started sticking and moving again. He was looking good. But then, as it often seems to happen with him, Arlovski went from looking good to, well, keep reading.

Kharitonov landed a hard uppercut and then a right hand. Then came a flurry of punches from him, including a right hand that knocked Arlovski down. A few strikes on the canvas later and it was all over; Arlovski was simply out.

Cormac McCarthy’s Sunset Limited tonight on HBO

Strong reveiws for tonight’s HBO premiere of Cormac McCarthy’s Sunset Limited starring Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Tommy Lee himself.

Subject matter doesn’t get more profound than life and death, but, thanks to McCarthy’s writing and the two veteran actors, we’re completely drawn into the discussion, so much so that we’re taken by surprise as McCarthy careful injects another possible interpretation of the play’s set-up.

Both performances are terrific… Jones looks and acts appropriately tired. It would be easy to give in to the temptation to make White simply bitter and empty, but by keeping the character human, Jones makes his despair even more profound… Jackson may have the slightly more difficult job in that he has to avoid self-righteousness playing the “good guy,” but he more than meets that challenge. His is that TV rarity, a tour de force performance, rippling with energy, nuance, humor and passion. (San Francisco Chronicle)

Faces New Generation Egypt's Old Guard

As the post-Hosni Mubarak phase begins in Egypt, analysts say the military, which is now in power, is facing off against young Egyptians who have made clear they aspire to democracy.

Egypt's military leader, the Soviet-trained defense minister, Mohammed Hussein Tantawi drove on Saturday morning to Tahrir Square, the center of the protests seeking a transition to democratic, civilian rule. He did not get out of his car.

Paul Beran, a Middle East expert from Harvard University, says so far, given the change in power, Tantawi is being well accepted, but that he will have to manage the situation very carefully.

Beran says Egypt's generational shift is also taking place within the military itself, one of many challenges facing Tantawi.

"[Tantawi] seems to have the goodwill of the vast majority of Egyptians and indeed those include the military, and so we can assume that, I do not think he has been plotting for this day, but I am sure he has been thinking about it for a number of weeks and wondering how the next steps happen," he said.

So far, the military council now ruling Egypt has issued repeated statements urging cooperation while promising a peaceful transition to an elected civilian democratic state.

An Amazing Goal, and Rooney Is King of All Manchester

Wayne Rooney said it was the best goal he had ever scored, and Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson called it the greatest strike he had seen in 25 years at Old Trafford. The opposing goalkeeper did not even budge.

Rooney put a troubled season behind him Saturday as his spectacular bicycle kick won the Manchester derby at Old Trafford, giving Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in an English Premier League game.

With his back to the goal in the 77th minute, Rooney left his feet and met a right-wing cross with a perfectly timed overhead strike that flew into the top corner.

“I saw it coming over and I thought, ‘Why not?’ ” Rooney told Sky Sports. “Nine times out of 10 they go into the stand.”

Such was the power and accuracy of the shot that Joe Hart, City’s goalkeeper, was left motionless.

Ferguson said the quality of the strike reminded him of the United great Denis Law, who scored 171 goals in a glittering career at the club.

“It was stunning,” said Ferguson, who added that even with the club’s storied history, “You’ll never see that.”

If the doggie pundits have it correct, a terrier will once again take the Best in Show title at the 135th Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York on Tuesday.

According to Johnny Avello, the famous Las Vegas wizard of odds who has correctly predicted the winning breed for the past five years, a Smooth Fox Terrier is likely to take the top title in dogdom.

However, this year, there will be a further battle within that breed, as Smooth Fox Terrier contender Dodger will go leash-to-leash against a fellow Smooth Fox Terrier named Adam to take the breed title before the battle to win the terrier group even begins.

Kati Kim Story, The tragic story of a family trapped for days in a car during a winter storm in Oregon is said on a two hour “20/20″ (ABC, 21 pm), “Wrong Turn: The Story Kati Kim.” Cornel West, Matthew Perry, Arianna Huffington and journalists Hooman Majd and Norah O’Donnell are regular guests on a new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 22 pm).

Kim and her husband James were traveling through Oregon in November 2006 with their two children, aged four and seven months, when they took a wrong turn off Interstate 5 near Grants Pass, in an effort to get in Gold Beach along the Oregon coast.

Before long they found themselves stranded in the snow in the Coast Range on Bear Camp Road, a narrow logging road. Their disappearance led to a massive rescue effort by researchers from Oregon south and coverage of news coverage by the Oregonian newspaper and many others, and television.

Finally, Kim’s vehicle was spotted from a helicopter piloted by a businessman seeking assistance.
